Rampage Says He Will Fight Rashad

-------------------------------------------------------

In a blog post today on his official website, Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quentin Jackson stated that he will eventually indeed come out of retirement to fight former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans.

This is the latest from the former MMA champ turned actor in regard to his ongoing fight with his above mentioned rival which has so far been everything but physical.

Evans confronted Jackson in the octagon at UFC 96 after Jackson had just defeated Evans’ teammate Keith Jardine.  The drama began there as they definitely showed their dislike for one another at that time.  Soon afterward they were announced to be opposing coaches on the upcoming The Ultimate Fighter reality series.  The dislike seemed to progress tremendously throughout the taping of the show as the two men seemed to not be able to refuse the opportunity to face off with the other.  The heated and often humorous altercations between them provided most of the entertainment value of the show. The two men were slated to head the UFC 107 card which is set to take place in Quentin’s home town of Memphis, TN. this December 12th.  Then, just as the build-up for this fight was beginning to boil over, Hollywood put the brakes on all of it.  Quentin Jackson was cast as B.A. Baracus in a movie remake of the television show A-Team.  He is, in fact, filming right now.   That’s right, and the timing could not have been worse for the thousands of fight fans who were anticipating this bout.

The news of the cancelled fight came in September, and as you would expect from the UFC president, Dana White, there were words of disappointment.

“He’s acting like a baby right now, but he’s a grown man,” he said. “If he wants to be in the movie business, Rampage, good luck to ya, man. I hope he makes it big, and I’m not being sarcastic.”

Rampage has been busy filming and thus has not had much to say on the matter until today when he made this post on his website.

“I wanted to let my fans know that I'm going to come back to the UFC & finish my contract. Not because the haters are talking (expletive) about me being scared of Rashad or Titties or anybody else. I'm coming back for my fans & to shut Rashad's mouth up & shut Dana's mouth up. Then after that I'm going back to doing movies & I might do a boxing match once a year just to stay in shape.”
