Heath " The Teaxas Crazy Horse" Herring was regarded as one of the top ten heavyweights around the time of this fight. However no one really knew Fedor Emelianenko, other than  he had beat Semmy Schilt in a less than exciting fight. This is the fight resulted in mma fans appreciating the skills Fedor. No mma fan, had seen anyone punching that hard on the ground it was just amazing to watch. Heath Herring's face was smashed up by Fedor's ground and pound. 

In the end the doctors had no choice but to stop the fight. The reason being that it was such a one sided fight, the referee felt that it would result in serious injury for Herring.
