Joachim Hansen
A Norwegian, mixed martial art's fighter, Joachim Hansen was born on the 26th of May, 1979. He is also nicknamed as "Hell Boy". Joachim Hansen is famous as the first Scandinavian to have won an MMA World Title in Shooto. A record of 15 - 5 - 1 (Win - Loss - Draw), Hansen is associated with Team Wodan Norway. He has been part of the following events, namely the PRIDE 33 : Second Coming, PRIDE: Shockwave 2006, PRIDE: Bushido 10, Shooto: The Victory of the Truth, PRIDE: Bushido 9, Shooto: Alive Road, PRIDE: Bushido 8, FF 3: FinnFight 3 and FF 4: FinnFight 4 respectively. Joachim Hansen is specialized in martial arts and is well known for his devastating knee-strikes, ground-game flexibility, and fast leg kicks. Joachim Hansen holds notable record of wins over Caol Uno, Takanori Gomi, Yves Edwards and Gesias Calvancanti. And holds the record of being the first fighter to have Takanori Gomi, thereby taking away Gomi's title of Shooto welterweight. Joachim Hansen is ranked eight by the MMA Weekly, in the best lightweight category. He sure has an impressive and remarkable record. At the Shooto World welterweight champion, in 2003, Hansen recored yet another remarkable win against Masakazu Imanari. It was such an exciting match, moreover it is said that one could hear Imanari's skull being crushed by Hansen's knee, during the knockout. In 2006, at the PRIDE Shockwave, Hansen was defeated by Shinya Aoki, however he made a come back at PRIDE 33, by defeating Jason Ireland. Thereafter with the closure of PRIDE FC, Hansen was without fights, but is supposedly said to have one in November of this year (2007). From the BJJ to the Finnfights, it is said that Joachim Hansen fought just about everything there was to fight in Scandinavia, while winning all there was to win. He came into Shooto with a big bang. In his fight agains Takumi in Japan, in December 2006, the fight went on for a while. Hansen accepted the judge's decision, although there were many penalty points accumulated. Rumina Sato, challenged Hansen, after the fight. Thereafter, Hansen's one goal was to defeat Sato in a convincing victory. The match was so dramatic, Hansen struck blows and strikes to Sato's head, so severe was the attack that the referee had to call the match to a halt. For nearly around nine months of this year, it is said that Joachim Hansen was mentally disturbed. This was so, because he waited for his Zuffa contract to end, as they were not willing to match the same salary that he was earning, while he was in Japan. With his incredible performance and records as proof, Joachim Hansen, should have been topmost in the lightweight division. However, for the better half of 2007, he's had to watch from the by-lines due to contract problems. And therefore he has shifted his focus to kickboxing in recent time. |
