Kenneth Florian

Born in Massachusetts on the 26th of May, 1976, Kenneth Alan Florian is btter known by his nickname as “KenFlo”. Weighing around 150 lbs and with a height of 5 ft 10 inches, Florian stands tall. He is a professional mixed martial arts fighter and has a background in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as well as in Muay Thai. Florian parent’s are from Peru in South America. They were immigrants to America. Florian excelled in various sports such as tennis, soccer and martial arts as a child. While he was in high school and college, Florian put aside martial arts and devoted his time to soccer. He loved sports. In fact while he was in the Boston College, he earned the Big-East academic all-star status. Florian graduated in Communications. After his graduation, Florian developed his interest in mixed martial arts. He earned a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, under the training and guidance of Prof. Roberto Maia of Boston Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Gracie Barra Boston).

Kenneth Florian has a mixed martial arts record of 7 Wins, one by knockout and 6 by submission and total of 3 Losses in his carrier. Florian is extremely popular for his elbow strikes. Joe Rogan describes these elbow strikes of Florian as Razor Sharp. Though Florian lost against Diego Sanchez in the Ultimate Fighter reality show, he is best remembered for his appearance on that show. In recent times, Kenneth Florian’s career is quite active and he fights as a lightweight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Florian’s mixed martial arts career is rather interesting. In February 2004 at Mass Destruction 15, he made his MMA debut. Here he fought and defeated Bobby McAndrews by kimura. However in July 2004, he lost at Combat Zone 7. This was the first time that he lost at UFC regular. In the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, Florian fought as a middleweight, but was defeated at the final against Sanchez. This was in the first round itself.

Thereafter at the first Ultimate Fight Night he won against Alex Karalexis a TUF 1 competitor. Following this victory he went on to fight a Muay Thai competitor, Kit Cope. At this fight, Florian emerged victorious after defeating Cope in round 2 with a rear naked choke submission. After defeating Canadian TKO Lightweight Champion, Florian earned a title shot. This was at the Ultimate Fighter 3 season final. At the UFC Lightweight championship title at UFC 64, Florian was defeated by Sean Sherk. This was via unanimous decision. Then at UFC Fight Night 9, in a fight against Dokonjonosuke Mishima of Japan, Florian emerged victorious. UFC newcomer Alvin Robinson, was defeated via submission by Florian at the UFC 73. Quite recently, Din Thomas fought with Kenneth Floria at the UFC Fight Night 11. In this fight Florian emerged as victor, owing this to the rear naked choke strategy. While attempting a takedown during this fight, Din was injured. He injured his knee.
