Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock Confirmed

Reports emanating online claim that the decision on the fighter to fight Kimbo Slice on Oct 4th will be Ken Shamrock.

Shamrock, who has lost his last FIVE fights, is said to be seen to be a bigger draw than other fighters considered for the high-profile bout and would go some way to improving the ratings for the CBS screened show.

Whether or not this match up will appeal to the more knowledgeable MMA community is questionable as many hoped to see Kimbo face a more credible opponent than the 44 year old Shamrock who has clearly passed his peak.

The Boxing Disease

So, it looks like EliteXC are protecting their most saleable asset. By matching him with UFC veteran Shamrock they clearly hope to maintain Kimbo's unbeaten record while adding a high profile name to his record thus padding out Kimbo's reputation. This tactic has been often used in the Boxing world and has been widely regarded as the main contributing factor to Boxing's recent decline.

EliteXC, already under-fire for the seemingly biased officiating of the last Kimbo Slice fight in May, are now clearly under pressure to capture the imagination of the mixed martial arts fan base having failed to do so with it's hotch potch of ex-UFC and complete unknowns currently headlining their shows. Kimbo it seems is their only hope.
