Mike Thomas Brown is American MMA fighter and is associated with American Top Team. He was born in Portland, Maine on September 08, 1975. He currently holds WEC Feather Weight Championships and fights at World Extreme Cage Fighting Organization. Both MMA weekly and Sherdog rate him as number one feather weight fighter in the world. He is ranked #10 pound-for-pound fighter at Sherdog and Yahoo! Sports. He trains at main American Top Team academy near Coconut Creek in Florida.

He held state championship in 1992 when he wrestled in Standish at Bonny Eagle High School. His ability to focus gained him attention at college when he studied at Norwich University. He was an excellent scholar-athlete during his college time in spite of faring poorly at high school. His coach Rich Hasenfus rated him at one of the strongest wrestlers and smartest athletes at Norwich.

Brown had been a tough fighter at MMA event including the Ufc but his toughest fight was against leg-lock master, Masakazu Imanari. He broke Brown's leg to the extent that it was pulled out and to the side of his knee joint. At WEC, he fought for the first time at WEC 34against Jeff Curran who is a jiu-jitsu fighter. Brown marked his victory against Curran by matching Curran's stand up in each round. He won by unanimous decision given by the judges.

He was supposed to fight Urijah Faber in Hollywood, Florida at WEC 36 when he was offered a shot at WEC Feather Weight Championships. However, a Hurricane Ike threat postponed the match till November 05, 2008 where he defeated Faber who had held the title since past two and half years. His American Top Team had prepared him well for this match and he knocked down Faber with a right hook jaw when Faber attacked him with a risky elbow strike. He was declared as the new Feather weight Champion when he won by unanimous decision.

He fought Texas native Leonard Garcia at WEC 39 in Corpus Chisti. He claimed his first title defense when he capitalized on Garcia's mistake of an aggressive attack. He won the fight by rear naked choke and Garcia cut open a wound on his forehead followed by a series of punches from Brown. Although, Garcia found his guard but Brown attacked again with full mount and finished the fight with a triangle choke. Later he stated that he did not feel like a champion after the Faber fight but he was delighted to establish himself as the Champion with his win against Garcia.

In a rematch against Faber at WEC 41 on June 07, 2009 at ARCO Arena in Sacramento, California, Brown defeated Faber in his hometown by unanimous decision. During the match, Brown broke Faber's right hand. As per ESPN and Sherdog, they later noted that Faber's right "hand hand was no match for the top of Mike Brown's head." Brown is scheduled to fight Jose Aldo at the main event of WEC 43 or 44.
