Muay Thai Boxing RulesThe Muay Thai fighter must adher to the rules as the winner of a Muay Thai fight is decided in accordance with the rulesthe fighter must be aware and strictly follow the rules of the Thai Boxing competition. In order to score highly the technique should have a clear effect on the opposing fighter. The variety of Thai Boxing techniques is not significant, but their effectiveness that the judges are looking for, so it is possible to win using one Muay Thai technique exclusively. The judjes are looking to score the fighter favourably who utilizes the most powerful techniques. The judjes are looking out for evidence of the effect of Thai Boxing. In addition they are also looking for strength of character, aggression and power. There are three judges who decide at the rounds end if the round resulted in "a draw (scores 10:10), a win by significant margin (score 10:9) or a win by undisputed margin (10:8). At the end of the match the score judges add up the points scored and nominate a winner to the referee. If there are three different votes (win, defeat, draw) at the end of the match the verdict is a draw". The fighters cannot wear and must not wear must wear a shirt or shoes. A Muay Thai Boxing competition is separated into no more than five rounds. Each round is three minutes long in duration, with a two minute rest period between the rounds. Fighters must weigh in nude a day prior to the fight. Fighters must have studied the art of Muay Thai boxing by a recognized teacher. There must be a time keeper in every contest. Fighters must complete the ritual dance refered to as the Ram Muay before the fight can start. The weight divisions are as follows:
The above rules must be strictly adhered to. Failure would inevitably result in one not being allowed to fight or being disqualified. |
