Nick Diaz


Nick Robert Diaz was born in the year 1983. He is an American and is a mixed martial arts fighter by profession. Widely known as Nick Diaz, he is also known by his nickname which is "Diablo". Nick Diaz is popular as a former  WEC Welterweight champion as well as a former IFC. He weighs around 77kgs and stands at six feet tall.  He is widely associated with Cesar Gracie Jiu Jitsu and is popular for his Braizilian Jiu Jitsu fighting style as well as boxing.  Nick Diaz has a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) record of 15 wins of which 7 are by knockout and 5 by submission with 7 losses. Diaz has participated in the PRIDE fighting championships as well as the UFC, Ultimate Fighting Championship.  Currently he fights at the Elite Xtreme Combat. In early this year, 2007, Diaz was promoted by Cesar Gracie, to a black belt in  Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Nick Diaz is also popular for a modified style of the  Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This holds him good stead in his mixed martial arts career. Kimur is his favorite submission and he is also well known for the upside-down guard fight, this is quite remarkable and impressive.

Born in California, Nick Diaz did not pursue his studies. He dropped out of Tokay High School in Lodi. As a freshman, Diaz was extremely good at swimming. It is often said that due to his swimming capabilities, Diaz has an impressive stamina during his fights. Diaz foten watched the UFC fights and wanted to participate and fight in the organization. Diaz's younger brother, is also a mixed martial art fighter. His name is Nathan Diaz. After a number of years in varied combat sports and marital arts, Nick Diaz became a professional fighter in mixed martial arts. This was in 2001. At the young age of 18 years, at the IFC Warriors Challenge 15, Diaz fought and defeated Mike Wick, with a triangle choke. Thereafter he was invited to compete in the Ultimate Athlete's King of the Mountain.  After his first two fights, Diaz lost in the finals. He lost by TKO to Jeremy Jackson. Then at the  IFC Warriors Challenge 18, Diaz again fought against Jeremy Jackson and was able to win here. He won by TKO in the first round. Keeping a watch on him and taking note of his fighting capabilities and success, the UFC signed Diaz. At the UFC 44, Diaz made his debut. Here he had a third fight with Jeremy Jackson.

Nick Diaz is immensely popular and his now quite a star. At UFC 47, he returned to the Octagon. Here he had a match with  Karo Parisyan. Unfortunately, he lost due to a hard-fought split decision. At the UFC 51, Diaz came back with full gusto and registered a win against Drew Fickett and at UFC 53, he won against  Koji Oishi. However at the UFC, he registered a second loss at the hands of Diego Sanchez. He lost to Sanchez via unanimous decision. At the UFC 57, Diaz was paired up with Joe Riggs. He tried hard but lost out to Riggs. Nick Diaz's other notable fights include, the EliteXC in Hawaii, the UFC 62, the UFC 65 and PRIDE FC.
