Robbie Lawler

An American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, Robbie Lawler was born in 1982. He was born in San Diego, California and currently fights out of Bettendorf Iowa. He is commonly nicknamed as "Ruthless".  Currently Robbie Lawler is the champion of the
EliteXC middleweight. He is also a member of Team Hughes. Along with his team mates, Matt Pena, Marc Fiore and Matt Hughes he is part owner of Team Hughes. Lawler is famous for his aggressive, powerful and reckless fighting style of "Freestyle". Robbie Lawler has a MMA record of 15 wins of which 12 are by (T)KO's, 1 submission and  2 by decisions.

It is commonly known that Robbie Lawler fights using his fists and wins many of his matches due to this. Lawler claims that supplying blood to large group of muscles takes up too much of his energy during his fights and so he restricts his exercising to back and push-ups only. Being affiliated with  Miletich martial arts, Lawler follows the  Miletich Fighting technique. Lawler has also trained in a professional capacity under Pat Miletich, who is also his manager. In spite of him being an amateur in 2000, Lawler had a very good fighting record to his name. Held at the MMA National championship, at  Extreme Challenge Trials, Lawler emerged victorious in a fight against Ernie ward. This was via KO.

Robbie Lawler has won over 15 well known tough fighters like Eduardo Pamplona at IFL: Atlanta by TKO in Round 3, Joey Villasenor at PRIDE 32: The Real Deal by KO (Strikes). Falaniko Vitale at ICON Sport , Jeremy Brown at KOTC: Xtreme Edge by Submission (Armbar), Chris Lytle at UFC 45: Revolution  by unanimous decision. Tiki Ghosn at UFC 40: Vendetta by TKO (Strikes), Steve Berger at UFC 37.5: As Real As It Gets by TKO (Strikes). In the year 2002 he won over Aaron Riley at UFC 37: High Impact by Decision. In the year 2001 he won over Marco Macera at Extreme Challenge 41 by TKO,  Landon Showalter at IFC: Warriors Challenge 13 by KO in Round 1 and won  John Reed at Extreme Challenge 39 in TKO Round.

Since his release from the UFC in 2004, Lawler has won almost 7 fights. He claimed the
ICON Sport Middleweight Title by defeating Frank Trigg. He also kept with Murlio Rua's EliteXC Middleweight Title. At the EliteXC: Uprising, Lawler stopped Rua with his freestyle technique of striking.

Lawler fought against Fran Trigg in March 2007, for the ICON Sport middleweight championship. He defeated Trigg at the fourth round by KO. He fought PRIDE fighting championships with Murilo Rua, who is well known as the Ninja. Lawler won in the third round by TKO. In December 2007, Lawler is slated to fight  Hawaii's Kala "Kolohe" Hose. This is for the  Icon Sport Middleweight Championship. The two were supposed to meet earlier this year, however Lawler had a shoulder injury and was not fit to participate. He got this shoulder injury while he was undergoing training.
