Roger Huerta is popularly known, as "El Matador" among his fans. He  is a Mexican American Mixed Martial Artist. He was born on May 20, 1983 in Los Angeles, California. His fighting style is Greco- Roman Wrestling and he fights out from Minneapolis, Minnesota. This 25 years old fighter competes in the lightweight division of the "The Ultimate Fighting Championship". Roger Huerta is a two time world champion for the IFC in the 155lb weight class and 170lb weight class. His favorite grappling technique is the Wrestling and Brazilian  Jiu-Jitsu and his favorite striking tactic is the Muay Thai Boxing. Roger Huerta still has one more year left in Augsburg College and at present he is majoring in Business Management. This Mexican fighter is very determined and focused. He plays with full energy and stamina and never underestimates his opponent.

Roger Huerta had started training three years before he even finished his first year in college. He thought that wrestling is not the place to be, so he started doing some amateur MMA events and realized that this is what he wanted to do in his life. When he first saw the UFC fight he really got inspired by it and wanted to join. He said "I can be one those guys, I can do it". Roger Huerta had originally been fixed for a fight against Hermes Franca and make his UFC debut at UFC 61, but due to an elbow injury he was forced to withdraw the match. He won his first UFC match against Jason Dent at UFC 63 and it was named as the "Fight of the Night. Roger Huerta won all six fights in the UFC. Since then there was no looking back for this young and talented fighter.. At a more recent event on December 8, 2007 at the The Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale, Roger Huerta defeated Clay Guida by a rear naked choke. Among all his wins his only loss came due to a dislocated jaw early in the finals of the Super brawl 36 tournament which was against Ryan Schultz on June 18,2004 , his third match of the day.

Roger Huerta currently resides in St Paul, Minnesota. He is an adopted son and calls his mother Jo Ramirez as his guardian angel. He grew up in Austin, Texas where he attended the Crockett High School. There he joined the Crockett Cougar wrestling team and was filed in the 152lb weight division. Roger Huerta flaunts a tattoo, which reads "God, I offer myself to Thee, to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy power, Thy love and Thy way of life. May I do Thy will always". This tattoo depicts the Alcoholics Anonymous third step prayer.

Roger Huerta the MMA fighter had his dream come true when he fought his first match in UFC. In his words it means a crazy ride for him, and he is living a dream. He never thought that he would be a part of the UFC and after attaining a top position he wants to make the best of it and go beyond.
