Sambo Fighters

This powerful word Sambo in Russian means "self defence without a weapon". These days, Russia recognizes three versions of their national art. These are self defense sambo which is the version aimed for people in the street, combat sambos the range that originated in the military but is now extensively practiced by mixed martial artists, and sport sambo for competitions.  The fighters which are involved in this art are fighters with great power in spirit and in mind.  Clearly Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu set the rules that the rose early in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).  These days, however, it's hard to define the mixed martial artists by one discipline as they do train in so many.  Still, there are several Sambo fighters with Sambo backgrounds out there, particularly heavyweights they are making a whole of racket.

Fedor Emelianenko - Many do consider Fedor as the be the greatest as the mixed martial artist of in all of time.  Fedor is powerhouse with excellent takedowns and ground manages skills, not to point out very good compliance capability.  According to an overall MMA record he's defeated elite fighter such as Coleman and Sobra.  Fedor is also a one of kind Sambo World Combat and Sambo Russian Combat Champion. Andrei Arolvski - The UFC former Champion is well known more for his striking rather than his Sambo and ground skills.  However, in this first fight against Tim Syvia, he demonstrated the leg locks that at one time had helped him become the World Junior Sambo Champion quite nicely.  His MMA overall record stands at 9 - 5.  Aleksander Emelianenko, brother of Fedor Emelianenko, an overall MMA record of 9 - 2.  Like Arlovski, Aleksander Emelianeno is known best for his striking. He's a two time Russian Sambo and World Sambo

As mentioned above, many of these practitioners of Sambo are doing very well on striking their feet.  Though pure Sambo did educate, to a degree, some measure of striking, the real reason for this seems to be an eagerness to cross train by the aforesaid MMA fighters.  Possibly like Sambo's forefathers, the current flag bearers appear to be more than willing to add techniques that work and gel with their discipline. They are quite frank and not afraid of admitting that they don't know everything. In other words, practitioners of Sambo have embraced the concept of constant learning; in fact, it seems that they always have.  Therefore, the Russian art of Sambo is quite happening in Mixed Martial Arts.  And if fighters like, the great Aleksander, Fedor Emelianenko Andrei Arlovski, Emelianenko and they have anything to say about it, this is going to continue.  Sambo's roots are somewhat difficult to pinpoint, primarily for the same reason why it is so effective.  The many forefathers of Russian Sambo had all one thing in mind.  To possibly take all the best features of each martial art that the world has to offer and then combine them. And so a number of disciplines and personalities became part of it. The world is capable of finding the world's best martial arts fighters with great techniques.
